GOOSTREY CENTENARY ROSE FESTIVAL
Rose Day Events
The Goostrey Centenary Rose Festival will take place on Saturday and Sunday 25
& 26 June. Preparations are well in hand to make this a very special weekend for
our village.
We are delighted to announce that the RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team will be sky-diving on to the school field at approximately 4pm on the Saturday. This will be the climax of the afternoon’s festivities and it promises to be a spectacular sight. However, can we warn animal owners that the jets carrying the sky-divers will swoop noisily over the village around this time.
The procession will assemble at Booth Bed Lane at 12.30pm and will begin at 1pm prompt. Could we ask householders along the route to trim hedges and hang out bunting and banners in order that Goostrey looks at its best on this special day?
Rose Day programmes sellers will be calling at your home in the run up to the 25th. The special centenary programme costs £2 but it does not include admission to Rose Day. This year admission will cost £1 for adults payable on the day. All children and concessions will be free.
The committee is again running a second hand bookstall. If you have any books please contact Chris on 533530. We would also welcome donations for the cake stall. Please bring them to the school field on the Saturday morning. Anyone who feels they can help run a stall or help in any way on the day is asked to contact Jill on Tel 532220.
Of course, an event of this scale does not happen without a great deal of hard work and the committee would welcome support, however small, from anyone who can help set up the equipment on each evening from Wednesday, 22 June onwards or on Friday afternoon or on the Saturday before and after the event. If you can spare some time it really is the case that many hands make light work, please contact Andy on Tel 537284.
